My iEye…Eye

For the last 6 months I’ve been taking part in my own creative challenge, taking and posting pics online twice a week, every week. I dubbed this challenge iEYE and have since combined it with my regular Shima1.net site to ensure it’s continuation, growth and exposure.

The original plan was/is to go until the end of the year but at this point, I honestly think it’ll go much farther than that. The main reason is simple, it’s fun! I’m not a great photographer. Hell, some days i’m a terrible one. In the end though none of that matters because everything I take a picture of is or was interesting to me at that exact moment, enough so that I felt the need to capture and preserve it.
I’ve been introduced and re-introduced to photography many times over the years. I have all the gear and some basic knowledge. What I was lacking was drive. That all changed when I entered into the smartphone market. Personal preference drove me to the iPhone and I’ve stayed true to that one brand (mostly because of familiarity and a love for growing INTO and WITH a brand at the same time). Owning that phone I started taking pictures of things that normally would be missed or lost because I didn’t have a traditional point and shoot camera on hand. After a couple years I’ve really grown to love having that ability and that was why during the Christmas holidays last year i decided that I would embark on this year long journey and see where it takes me.
So far I think I’ve ended up with some pretty neat pics. With half a year to go I can’t wait to see what I come up with next. With some big events and trips on the horizon I definitely don’t see me running out of things to capture.
